Editor,

I don’t understand the media’s (and the current administration’s) obsession with North Korea. I mean, I get it that nukes are bad, but does anyone think they could ever threaten the United States? Kim Jong Un rattles his sabers to satisfy his narcissistic tendencies, like Trump’s tweets. While I don’t have blind faith in our military’s ability to defend sovereign U.S. soil, I do believe our $600 billion annual budget has equipped us with systems that could take them down like I would shoo a fly. North Korea’s annual defense budget is a skimpy $3.5 billion. We spend nearly 200 times more than they do and have been doing it for decades. As far as imperialist conquest of their land, it is one third of the size of California with a GNP of $16.2 billion compared to the U.S. $186 trillion GNP. Oh wait, they have lots of coal reserves. That must be it. Make America Great Again and stop believing all this nonsense.
