Editor,

Regarding “Legislation to let PG&E pass on cost of fire” from the Aug. 25 edition of the Daily Journal, Pacific Gas and Electric should be held responsible for its mistakes and failures. PG&E is not a nonprofit organization. They have shareholders and pay dividends. When they do well, the shareholders profit, so when they have to pay for their mistakes the shareholders don’t get paid. That’s business. Anyone who is not a shareholder would be crazy to support or vote for any legislator who agrees with this ridiculous idea. As for utilities going bankrupt, so what? Other companies have filed for bankruptcy and reorganized. Maybe PG&E could stand a reorganization. Maybe they would not have the million plus dollars to donate to our legislators.
