On June 8, the League of Women Voters of California and League of Women Voters of the United States issued the following joint statement in response to the deploying of National Guard troops against largely peaceful protesters in Los Angeles County.

Hello, Tina

The LWV website says the League is "a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels."

I like "advocacy, education, and litigation" in League's statement. I have to wonder about the League's claim to be "nonpartisan" and whether trying to "ensure everyone is represented in our democracy" includes the 77 million voters who cast ballots for the current president.

Hello Tina - perhaps you need to get away from the CNN playbook. "What limits should there be on a president who engages the military against American citizens" President Trump sent the military out to protect other federal law enforcement personnel, not to arrest or attack civilians. You need to do your homework before you post and you are not helping the credibility of your League. Hysteria is misplaced here.

Thanks, Ms. Doede, for showing us that the League of Women Voters of North & Central San Mateo is okay with violent protests and attacks on law enforcement. I guess we can toss out any goodwill or credibility the League of Women Voters previously established.

Meanwhile, to answer your questions… The American people and especially residents of communities are served by our (yes, our) great President Trump’s decisive actions to re-establish law and order. If I disagreed with the Trump administration’s politics and I were a Democrat, I’d be more than ashamed of folks who’d rather side with criminal invaders to our country rather than American citizens. And I’d vote for an alternative for a candidate who stands for law and order. What limits should there be? It depends on the situation. In Los Angeles where you have an impotent mayor and governor, Trump is obligated to re-establish law and order. That would be true for any state. Next?
