Editor,

I read Ed Kahl’s letter on Aug. 2 with a mild sense of amusement. He attempted to link her politics as being based on her fathers Marxist beliefs. My father Gordon believed there was no correlation between volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. That doesn’t mean I believe it without question or teach it to my children just because I grew up with and respect him. Mr. Kahl also claimed she failed as the ‘border czar” a title she never formally held.

Good morning, Gus

Ed Kahl contributes frequently to the DJ from a position on the right side of the aisle. So, it makes sense he would be concerned about Kamala's very left ideology. You seem to dismiss Ed's opinion that Kamala was influenced by her father's Marxist beliefs. Are you saying she was not influenced by hearing her father express those beliefs during her formative years? If she was not, as you suggest, influenced by her father's Marxism, where would you put her on the political spectrum and how did she get there?

Kamala has benefited from not having to convince voters in any primaries that she should be the Democratic Party's nominee. She didn't receive any primary delegate support this year or in 2020. She continues to dodge the media by not holding a press conference. It would be nice to hear her answer questions about what she believes she has accomplished. When do you think she might do that?

Nice try, Mr. Sinks. Everyone knows Kamala was identified as a “border czar” and if you’re willing to lie about a little thing that is easily debunked (https://www.axios.com/2021/04/14/harris-immigration-visit-mexico-guatemala) who knows what else you're willing to lie about. But you are correct, “… she (Kamala) was never a major player in direct efforts to manage/stop illegal crossings on our southern border.” which is why Mr. Kahl rightly states Kamala failed as the “border czar.”

BTW, is there a correlation between volcanic eruptions and earthquakes? Earthquakes occur with no volcanic eruptions. Volcanic eruptions occur with no earthquakes. It appears there is no correlation between volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Dad was right! Thanks, Gordon! So if dear old dad was right, is this letter wrong? Is there a correlation? I believe there is a correlation.
