Editor,

I have to admit to having set the Aug. 17 newspaper aside as I was going to decline Joe Guttenbeil’s invitation to “ask anyone with half a brain” in his letter Just insults from Democrats.

Cory, thanks for your letter but did you use half a brain, your entire brain, or only 1% to write this LTE. From what I read, it’s based on emotions, not logic. It’s interesting that you, like Mr. Brenner and Mr. Nakamura, fail to challenge Mr. Guttenbeil’s facts in his last letter regarding Hidin’ Harris’ lack of policies, Cackling Kamala’s failure as border czar, and Stolen Valor A-Walz’ failure to protect Minnesota during BLM riots. Instead you bring up a so-called “violent insurrection” that your idol, Nancy Pelosi admitted she was responsible for allowing. You conveniently forget Biden hiding their possession of sensitive classived documents. You conveniently forget Tara Reid. You conveniently forget more deaths occurred under Biden than Trump, showing Biden’s plan for COVID was to continue to allow people to die. I could go on but I fear I may be accused of telling the truth. Seems the “facts” got your tongue, and your fellow colleagues.

Lastly, I’m not surprised you conveniently forget that Trump’s Make America Great Again policies easily overshadow treasonous Biden/Harris America Last policies. Don’t let your hate for Trump continue to be greater than your love for America. Vote for Trump to Make America Great Once Again.

Thank you, Cory, for taking the time to write an LTE.

In the interest of full disclosure, I cannot speak for Joey G (the LTE writer... not the football player). He can answer for himself.

I do not think you are an “insulting Democrat” but I have to scratch my head over your suggesting about half the country supports “a fascist, authoritarian agenda.” I’m also scratching my head about your comment concerning the deaths of one million Americans and linking those deaths to the Trump administration. It appears you think Joe G’s Aug. 17 LTE was fact-challenged, so I have to ask… what facts can you point to in support of your remarks concerning the RNC’s agenda and COVID deaths recorded during Trump’s term?

In Michael Oberg’s Aug. 12 LTE, “The difficulty of finding common ground,” he suggests we eschew political rhetoric in favor of exchanging “facts and evidence.” Let’s do it.

As you recall, in your July 12 LTE, “List Trump’s positives,” you challenged DJ readers (presumptively those on the right side of the aisle) to list Trump’s positives. I did. I posted a list of 17 positives. In your “Half a brain?” LTE published today, you asked Joe G to provide details re: his candidate’s policies. That’s a fair point. How ‘bout let’s go back to the list posted in response to your earlier request about Trump’s performance? Would you care now to respond with “facts and evidence” to refute those items?
