The DMV is a simple example of what is good and bad in California’s government. We have auditors that check periodically on their employees. That’s good. One of the things they found was a DMV employee who slept on the job two to three hours a day. That’s good.
The problem is that the employee wasn’t fired because her actions weren’t documented, although they knew she slept some 2,200 hours over the last three years. Guess what the bad thing is. Next time you go to DMV and it takes three to four hours to get your license, find this woman’s office and take a nap while you wait, it’s only fair.
