In her May 4-5 column “A web of misinformation,” Annabel Chia wrote “people need to stop scrolling and start putting on critical thinking caps. There is so much misinformation that one wonders is there any real truth to anything?
It helps to study the author of information, whether he or she has known personal prejudices in the information. Beware of the people who are very skilled liars. Even today history still has some facts that are indisputable, and only need to be found and recognized as true.
In you letter you say to beware of very skilled liars. That is very true in the current political arena with the MAGA minions believing every lie from their orange Idol, a lifelong professional liar and conman.
Taffy? Care to respond to the facts or are you gonna do your typical ghost act? All your comments are ad hominem without an ounce of substance, fact or truth. If you’re right, and you stand behind your comments, then please reply.
I am happy to reply. I just get tired of spending hours replying to people that can't see the forest for the trees. Are you implying that Trump isn't a liar and a conman?
What I am implying is you see what you want to see, trump definitely has some ghosts in his closet, but there are far more ghosts, and corrupt politicians and countries in Biden’s closet. You seem to ignore all the facts regarding Biden, and then exaggerate the things that Trump has done. I don’t like trump when he attacks other people, I don’t like his verbal delivery, but he’s an American first. Joe Biden is not, Joe Biden is a me first. The reason Trump put his hat in the ring was because of the corruption, not just Democrats, Republicans as well, and he was ready to drain the swamp. Well, the swamp did not want to be drained, that’s why the Democrats attacked him, surveilled him while he was a private citizen, made up Russian hoaxes, and did everything they could to destroy him. Consequently Trump was exactly right, there was a corrupt swamp and he was there to drain the swamp for America’s sake. As we can clearly see today, the swamp creatures from both sides of the aisles stood up and fought back. It’s too bad you can’t see who Trump really is, and what he stands for
It is good thing I wasn't drinking my coffee when I read your comment or I may have spit it all over my computer. You said Biden was a me first and Trump was an American first I hate to break the news to you but Trump cares about two things and two things only. His ego and his pocket book. He only joined the 2016 presidential race for the publicity and once he got in he found that it was a better gig for grifting than anything he had used previously.
BTW, yesterday you commented on SoSF passing a resolution for a ceasefire in the middle east war. You said the CNN reported that Hamas had released the hostages and Israel had agreed to a cease fire. I find it ironic that our current comments are under the LTE about defeating misinformation. I checked with a simple search, which is what our resident Trumper always suggests when he can't answer a question and gets flustered, and could find no verification of your claim.
Apparently, Not So Common, your CNN satire isn’t recognized by folks afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome. But give Taffy an “orange man bad” conspiracy and he’ll be all over it, happily repeated ad nauseam, especially those from his darling CNN.
Not So Common, as expected, you’re getting par for Taffy’s course - yet another throwaway comment so Taffy can "hear" himself talk. I’m surprised you haven’t received Taffy’s “imaginary world” or “look in the mirror” or some other shtick response – his defense mechanism when falling short of the facts (happens all the time when he gets flustered). Remember, Taffy is the one who thinks there was a so-called J6 insurrection, and worse yet, Taffy thinks there was some magical Republican to Democrat switcheroo.
Not So Common..."it's too bad you can't see who Trump really is, and what he stands for". Easy...Trump is a traitor to our nation. He is an embarrassment and really, a pathetic human being.
FFGig, to respond via your sentiments, your letters are a real source of comedy for readers...based on nothing. Just mindless drivel (or for you, FFGig, “dribble”), void of actual facts...then again, not surprising. MAGA!!!
Terence Y...here's a fact...88 federal criminal indictments for the pathetic former president. I could go on but I do realize that your attention span is limited.
This week, in an interview with CNN, President Biden said inflation was at 9 percent when he entered office. That's not true... inflation was at 1.4 percent in January 2021. About a year and half later, inflation had climbed to 9 percent. I think those facts tend to support Norman's point that we should check the accuracy of sources. That being said, it should surprise no one that President Biden's "inflated" comment went unchallenged by CNN's interviewer.
I will give Biden that one as a simple mistakeI know the right wing won't but that is their problem. I didn't say Biden didn't lie, I said Trump was a professional liar. I am sure you recall that I have said all politicians lie, regardless of which side they represent.
Yep... plenty of dissembling on both sides. Again, I think that's the point Norman's LTE is trying to make. We're better off checking sources before using them.
Hmmm... I disagree that Joe's latest gaffe re: inflation was a simple mistake. I believe Joe's comment was intentional. He knows economic issues can sink his campaign, so it makes sense for him to blame his opponent for economic woes. Gosh... one politician blaming someone from the other party for problems... when does that ever happen?
Two months ago, our colleague, Jorg, submitted an LTE titled. "A reuniting SOTU address." He praised Joe's speech which was described by USA Today as overstating the truth, leaving out context, and sometimes simply wrong. I posted a rebuttal listing some of those things... they were not mistakes... they were intentional. No response.
If we agree that The Donald is a professional liar, then we'll have to agree that Joe is a pathological liar.
From reading your comments on the LTE by Jorg I know you are out playing. When you get back I thought I would throw in a disagreement about our Trump - Biden discussion on lying.
If we agree on Trump being a professional liar which I believe and agree that Joe is a pathological liar then that would mean that you and the right wing folks would want to have it both ways. The right is constantly saying that Biden is not fit for office because they say he has dementia. If true, that is my reason for saying his 9% inflation comment was a mistake because he doesn't know what he is saying, therefore not an intentional lie.
The joys of being NPP... I have been lamenting the choice of Biden and Trump as nominees for the two major parties for a long time. I find no comfort with progressives or the MAGA crowd. I have refrained from jumping on the bandwagon ridiculing Joe's mental acuity, but the reality is this... he is challenged from time to time, and it is something we can all see. Maybe that's why even some Democratic Party members are saying what would ordinarily be unthinkable this late into the campaign... the incumbent needs to be replaced.
Did you see the CNN interview or maybe the excerpt where Joe said he inherited 9 percent inflation from The Donald? It did not appear to be one of those moments where he struggles to communicate his thoughts. He was adamant. I don't believe it was a simple mistake. I think it was intentional, and that particular remark fits his decades long pattern of pathological mendacity. I also believe the overstating of truth, leaving out context, and getting things wrong during the SOTU address was intentional. C'mon, man... Joe's team worked over that speech and remember... he has final approval re: the content. The only way you can say that Joe was just making mistakes during the SOTU address would be if he had not seen his own speech until it popped up on the teleprompter.
Maybe some right wingers want to have it both ways, but I am not affiliated with them. I am not saying Joe is unfit due to dementia... my criticism of Joe rests squarely on failed policies. I do agree with a statement made by Irvin Dawid earlier this week. He said the 2024 election is a referendum for our current president not the former president. Our current president is not helping himself by wrongly blaming the former president for economic problems that occurred during Joe's current term in the WH.
Biden lies every time he opens his mouth - and he is very bad at it. There are literally over 500 serious fact check lies that Biden has spewed out over this disastrous presidency. If he is so brash about lying right out in public - imagine what he does behind closed doors. Without the MSM none of his lies would be possible to foist on the people - the legacy media is truly the #1 enemy of the people - whether it be CNN/NBC/FOX - all of them are actively subverting the will of the people and propagating the liberal elite/uniparty programming. The left liberal elite has become The Establishment and they dont want to give up power - which is why they tossed the Constitution out the window. I genuinely think Biden is the worst president of all time - and the people that still defend him are devoid of any true critical thinking skills - they are infantile solipsists that confuse their emotions for facts and confuse their feelings for reality. I have never openly supported Trump - but anybody still stumping for Biden needs a lobotomy.
