William “Bill” Edward Eggert died Jan. 25, 2018, after a brief illness.
He was born July 9, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and moved to San Mateo, California, in his teens, making his home there for over 40 years. A proud Bearcat, Bill met his wife of 58 years, Dolores, at San Mateo High School.
Following his 1956 graduation, Bill served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserve and attended College of San Mateo. He enjoyed a career working in sales and management with Sears Roebuck.
Bill was an excellent cook, avid gardener, fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved a good cribbage, chess or poker game. Bill and Dolores enjoyed a wonderful retirement in Cloverdale’s Clover Springs community.
Bill will be greatly missed by his wife Dolores P. Eggert, their children Laura Foster (Jack), Mike Eggert (Janelle) and Janette McAfee (John), seven grandchildren and a large extended family.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Heart Association.
