TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — The ceasefire announced between Israel and Hamas on Wednesday gave hope to families of hostages and war-weary Palestinians in the Gaza Strip — but their nightmare is far from over.

Families of the hostages do not know whether their loved ones are alive or dead, and many will have to wait for a phase of the agreement that has yet to be negotiated.

Watch live as President Joe Biden delivers remarks after multiple mediators said Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of dozens of hostages after more than 15 months of war.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says a ceasefire deal with Hamas has still not been reached and that the final details are still being sorted out.
