Three people who were willing to buy alcohol for a minor were arrested Saturday when Daly City police officers conducted a “shoulder tap” decoy operation.
The operation involved minors who would stand outside a liquor or convenience store and ask customers to buy them alcohol, indicating that they were underage and couldn’t buy it, according to police.
The minors worked under the direct supervision of an officer, police said.
The three people who agreed to buy alcohol for the minor were arrested and cited on suspicion of furnishing alcohol to a minor. The penalty is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service, according to police.
The program is designed to reduce access to alcohol for minors, police said.
