A woman who suffered facial scarring from her skin cream is suing the makers.
Julia Marsh is suing Clinical Creations, LLC after her use of their alpha lipoic acid facial emollient left her with permanent scars on her face. Marsh, in her mid-50s, purchased the skin cream from Nordstrom at the Hillsdale Shopping Center.
Marsh had previously used the product without ill side effects, according to Marsh's attorney Alan Phillips. When the second batch came, she experienced a burning sensation, Phillips said. She called the Clinical Creations helpline, who advised her to continue using the product according to the instructions on the item, Phillips said.
Clinical Creations, run by dermatologist Nicholas Perricone, does not manufacture the cream itself and was not sure of its exact contents, Phillips said.
"Facial creams change ingredients pretty suddenly and pretty often," said Phillips.
The lawsuit claims Marsh suffered "facial scarring, humiliation, loss of self esteem" as a result of the burns. Nordstrom and Perricone are also named in the suit.
Clinical Creations, LLC did not return a call for comment.
