Everyone in Burlingame is waiting on Vice Mayor Rosalie O'Mahony to give her endorsement for the November City Council race. Councilmember Mary Janney and Mike Coffey are running against four challengers and have yet to receive it. O'Mahony said she will likely announce her endorsement after Labor Day. In the meantime, challenger Terry Nagel said she will make a surprise announcement at her Sept. 7 campaign kick-off at the Lion's Club. Also holding a campaign kick-off at the Lion's Club is challenger Russ Cohen. His party is Sept. 5.

In Millbrae, council challenger Janet Fogarty is planning a campaign kick-off Sept. 3 at the 16 Mile House. Suggested donation is $5.

In San Mateo, council candidate Jack Matthews is planning a campaign kick-off at the Old Collins Pharmacy on Third Avenue 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4. Supervisor Jerry Hill is making the introduction.

Jockey agent Tom Doutrich was named racing secretary at Bay Meadows and Golden Gate Fields. He is replacing C. Gregory Brent who will remain a race official for both fields.

Jenna Cirimele, along with her sister and friend, are lobbying the Belmont City Council to help them stop anti-abortion activist Ross Foti from driving around with enormous photographs of aborted fetuses. There's not much the city can do, however. Foti is protected by the Constitutional right of free speech.
