Burlingame City Manager Lisa K. Goldman announced the appointment of Chris Lamm as the city’s next director of Public Works Dec. 18.
He will replace Syed Murtuza, who is retiring at the end of December after 28 years of service with the city of Burlingame.
“I’m excited to welcome Chris Lamm to the Burlingame team,” Goldman said in a press release. “With his broad experience in the Public Works field and a can-do attitude, Chris will be a tremendous asset to the city and will help us advance many critical infrastructure projects.”
The selection was following a thorough and extensive search, including interviews with other Public Works directors and the entire department head team, according to the city.
Lamm comes to Burlingame after serving as the deputy director of Infrastructure Development for the county of Santa Clara. Prior to that, he served in the city of Scotts Valley as Public Works director/city engineer, the city of Menlo Park as assistant Public Works director/city engineer, and engineering service manager/city engineer for the town of Los Altos. He has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from San Jose State University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
