A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a fatal shooting in Daly City over the weekend and his mother has also been taken into custody for allegedly being his accomplice, police said Tuesday.
The shooting was reported at about 7:10 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of South Mayfair Avenue, where officers arrived and found a 60-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Daly City police.
He has been identified by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office as Daly City resident Rolando Viray Yanga.
The next day, investigators located and arrested Maarij Abdullah Afridi and also arrested his mother, 50-year-old Zaib Un Nisa Afridi.
Daly City police have not released details about what led to the shooting or a possible motive in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department’s investigations division at (650) 991-8270.
