A motorcyclist died early Sunday morning when he smashed into a multi-car pileup, caused by a suspected drunken driver, on U.S. Highway 101 near San Francisco International Airport, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just after an accident involving a 1998 Mazda, a 1999 Lincoln limousine and a 1999 Audi, a man riding a motorcycle crashed into the right side of the limousine, according to CHP Officer Shawn
The motorist was identified as Jorge Bandala, 26, of South San Francisco by the San Mateo County Coroner.
The original accident was reportedly caused when the Mazda went out of control just before 2:30 a.m. and slammed into a guardrail, rolling back into the roadway, where it was struck by the limo, which in turn hit the Audi, Chase said.It was at that point, that Bandala crashed his motorcycle into the right side of the limousine.
According to Chase, the driver of the Mazda may have suffered a minor injury. The driver of the Mazda was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. No one else involved in the accident was hurt.<
