A roughly 100-year-old tree fell on several cars along South Railroad Avenue between Ninth and 10th avenues in San Mateo Wednesday, June 4. The fall initiated a traffic advisory around 3 p.m. requesting vehicles avoid areas near B Street and Claremont Street. While no injuries were reported, several cars suffered severe damage, including a Volkswagen and pickup truck. Police and fire units were on site and requested the public avoid the area. Full removal of the tree from the site could take at least two days, a city spokesperson said. The tree fall appears to have occurred on city property.
