· The San Carlos Planning Commission on Monday night unanimously approved the tentative map and architectural review of a new three-story, five-unit apartment complex at 657 Prospect Street. The council insisted on fire safety measures like sprinklers and listened to public concern about potential traffic before agreeing with a favorable staff recommendation.
At the Aug. 1 meeting, the council also approved a condition use and parking permit for Kindercourt, a childcare facility at 1601 Laurel Street.
· The San Carlos Citizens Advisory Committee for the Evaluation of Athletic Field Use Needs and Possible Solutions meets Aug. 4 to review top priorities and create recommendations about city-owned land. The committee's public meeting is at 7 p.m. in the San Carlos Library, Conference Room A on the Second Floor, 610 Elm Street.
· The Burlingame City Council honored Burlingame High School athlete Drew Shiller for his leadership on the school's baseball, basketball and football teams. The council also agreed to keep $3,000 earmarked for the Burlingame Historical Society.
· Councilman Dave Bauer pulled nomination papers this week for another term in the Belmont City Council. Council members Coralin Feierbach and George Metropulos and Planning Commissioner Bill Dickenson have also papers.
