California’s unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent in February while San Mateo County remained at the lowest rate in the state, according to data released Friday by the state Employment Development Department.
San Mateo County retained its 2.4 percent unemployment rate from last month’s report, which has shown a rise from the low 2.1 percent from the month prior. Both Marin and San Francisco counties showed a rate of 2.5 percent this month, according to the EDD.
The highest unemployment rate in the state is in Colusa County at 20 percent, a rise from last month’s 18.5 percent. Previously, Imperial County had the highest unemployment rate, but it is steadily dropping to a current 16 percent, down from last month’s 17 percent, according to data from the Employment Development Department.
The state’s employers added 14,000 nonfarm payroll jobs.
The state Employment Development Department said Friday that the figure is a new record low.
The unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in January and 5.1 percent in February 2017.
