A San Leandro man was arrested Wednesday in San Francisco following a multi-county vehicle pursuit tied to a string of thefts and drug offenses, San Mateo police said.
Brian Tapia, 30, was identified as the suspect in several alleged vehicle and property thefts reported the night of Tuesday in the 400 block of North Idaho Street in San Mateo, police noted.
Police further alleged that Tapia was connected to multiple auto burglaries that occurred the same evening.
The following day, law enforcement agencies, including air support, located Tapia’s vehicle outside San Mateo. He failed to yield during a traffic stop, prompting a pursuit through several counties.
The chase ended in San Francisco, where Tapia attempted to flee on foot but was arrested shortly after, police said.
He was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicions of vehicle theft, vehicle tampering, petty theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substances.
