Millbrae police made one arrest Friday after an off-duty vehicle task force agent recognized a wanted parolee with a history of violent, drug and vehicle crimes in a passing car.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., the off-duty officer is part of the San Mateo County Vehicle Task Force, which works vehicle vandalism cases, and noticed the parolee as a passenger in a passing car while driving through Millbrae. The officer followed the car to a residence on the 100 block of Willow Avenue and called the police department, said Millbrae police Sgt. John Aronis.
With the aid of other agencies, the police department set up a perimeter around the house and entered it. The wanted parolee was not located, but a different parolee at large was located in the house, Aronis said.
Karl Joseph Langridge, 40, was arrested. He has a history of narcotic offenses, Aronis said.
In 2002, Langridge was arrested by South San Francisco police for fleeing from police, driving without a license, resisting arrest and assaulting and battering a police officer, according to a 2002 Daily Journal article.

Langridge led South San Francisco police on a 4 a.m. high speed chase on Interstate 280 after failing to yield for a traffic stop. In an attempt to evade police, Langridge swerved the car toward the center divide of 280, jumped from the moving car and ran up a nearby embankment, according to the article.
The parolee originally spotted by the officer is still at large.
"What we found out later is that he most likely went around to the backyard and jumped the fence,” Aronis said.
The entire action yesterday lasted four hours, Aronis said.
