A 19-year-old Hayward man and a juvenile were arrested Saturday after allegedly leading San Mateo police officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle that ended in Hayward.
Two other suspects ran from the scene and were not immediately located, police said Sunday. A loaded firearm reported stolen from Las Vegas was allegedly thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit.
Police tried to pull the vehicle over at about 1:35 a.m. Saturday at Lago Street and South Norfolk Street, when the driver allegedly refused to stop.
A tire spike strip was deployed, but the vehicle still did not stop until it ultimately became disabled in Hayward, where the suspects fled on foot.
Police allege that burglary tools were found in the vehicle.
Alberto Mercado, who was caught during the foot pursuit, was arrested on suspicion of multiple allegations. A juvenile who surrendered to officers during the pursuit was later released to their parents.
