Trump Steaks

If you’re thinking Donald Trump, you’re close. Except he’s the one selling them and he wants you to shell out the cash.

Of course, these aren’t just any steaks and burgers. Trump has partnered with high-end retailer The Sharper Image to offer a variety of USDA prime Angus beef, from filet mignon and rib eye to porterhouse and even Trump Steak burgers.

Billed as "The World’s Greatest Steaks,” Trump Steaks are available in four variety packs and shipped to you frozen. The Classic Collection ($199), for example, includes two filet mignon, two bone-in rib eyes, and 12 Trump Steaks burgers.

Or if you’re feeling lavish, you could splurge for the Connoisseur Collection ($999), which includes four porterhouse steaks, four filet mignon, four bone-in rib eyes, four boneless New York strip steaks and 24 Trump Steaks burgers.

The quality of the meat in the Classic Collection sampled for this review was evident as soon as the gold-embossed box was opened. The filet mignon and rib eyes were well marbled, the burgers were thick and appeared fatty enough to be juicy.

Prepared as directed (rubbed with salt, pepper and olive oil), the steaks were superb. Both steak varieties were exceptionally tender and flavorful. The burgers, each a half pound, were juicy and delicious.

Here’s the caveat. At these prices (from $24 and $35 per pound depending on the box) you’d better be an expert griller. Steaks of this quality require a delicate hand. Overcook by even a minute and you might as well buy from your local grocer.
