Girls State Citizens Share Experiences with the Auxiliary Students

Girls State Citizens Share Experiences with the Auxiliary Students Claire Leung, Livia Valentine and Kayla Ling show their certificates of recognition from Congressman Kevin Mullin during brunch with the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA). The seniors from Design Tech High, Sacred Heart and The Nueva School reported to their sponsor, ALA Unit 105 Redwood City, about their learnings from the 82nd session of California Girls State — a six-day leadership, civic education, and empowering conference for rising seniors. Over 400 students from across California converge to ‘create the 51st state’ by selecting city officials, electing county & state officials, and creating policy platforms all while developing new friendships. The exposure to new, different perspectives in a respectful environment is one of the key components of California Girls State.
