Fifteen students from the San Francisco Peninsula were awarded the Dave Goldberg Scholarship, which will provide financial support and mentoring to students during their four-year college experience. Many of the students are the first in their families to attend college.
Scholarship recipients include Alan Sandoval, Desire Cortez-Estrada, Diego Vargas Rodales, Estefany Naranjo Cardenas, Heidy Avina Zamora, Jean Barrios Natareno, Jocelyn Toxcon, Kamila Medina Rodriguez, Kimberly De La Cruz Alor, Lizet Nunez Camacho, Maria Mellado Peña, Oliver Santiago-Mendez, Santiago Sandoval, V Galstan and Wendy Espinoza.

Yuan Garcia of Millbrae won a national prize for research on artificial intelligence in his project “Adaptable Metrics to Assess and Improve Introductory CS.” Garcia and his team of students from Harvey Mudd College won second place at the 57th Association for Computing Machinery Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education.

Kyle Hagerty of San Mateo took third place in a National Home Products Design Competition, representing with his teammate Kathryn Huang at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
