It was a bad day for unbeaten boys’ soccer teams Wednesday. The Rams dealt the Cougars their first Ocean Division loss of the season, as the same time M-A was handing Burlingame it’s initial Bay Division defeat of the year.
The game was tied at 1 at halftime, but Westmoor erupted for three second-half goals.
Gio Hamilton gave HMB (12-1 PAL Ocean, 36 points) a 1-0 lead in the first half, off an assist from Antonio Vega.
But Westmoor would find the equalizer before halftime.
Michael Whitlach scored the Cougars’ second goal, with Maury Alvarado providing the assist.
San Mateo 2, Terra Nova 2
The Bearcats scored twice in the first half, but the Tigers got the equalizer in the second half of their Ocean Division match.
Luis Murillo opened the scoring for San Mateo, Ahmad Alnubani rounded out the scoring for the Bearcats, off an assist from Micheal Walsh.
Girls’ soccer
Mercy-Burlingame 4, Harker 1
The Crusaders saw their shutout streak end as they allowed their first goal in West Bay Athletic League Skyline Division play in the regular-season finale when the Eagles converted a penalty kick.
Other than that, it was another strong performance from Mercy (12-0 WBAL Skyline, 16-4 overall), which got two more goals from senior Sara Bermudez. Lizzie Bermudez, a freshman, also scored, as did sophomore Isabel Bojorquez.
The Crusaders, the WBAL Skyline champions, will host WBAL Foothill Division fourth-place finisher Sacred Heart Prep at 3:30 Friday at Skyline College in a CCS play-in game.
