San Mateo 82, South City 44
The Bearcats buried the Warriors, scoring 20 or more points in three of the four quarters for a season high.
San Mateo (3-0 PAL Ocean, 10-4 overall) scored 24 points in the first quarter, 22 in the third and 20 in the fourth.
The Bearcats got a monster game from Zidane Auzarang, who poured in 28 points, connecting on five 3-pointers. Bryan Ehlerman added 10 points for the Bearcats.
South City (1-2, 9-4) was led by Darren Miller, who finished with 14 points.
Menlo-Atherton 63, Jefferson 31
The Bears set up a showdown with undefeated Carlmont Friday after routing the Grizzlies.
M-A (3-0 PAL Bay, 11-3 overall) led 23-9 after the first period and 38-15 at halftime before outscoring Jefferson (1-3, 9-6) 16-0 in the third.
Trevor Cadigan led the Bears with 17 points, with two 3-pointers. Jacob Sutton added 10 points.
Jefferson was led by Esteban De Leon, who finished with 15 points on five 3s.
Half Moon Bay 53, Burlingame 40
The Cougars built a 30-17 lead at halftime and never let the Panthers get any closer.
Asher Meighen scored a game-high 21 points to lead HMB (2-1 PAL Bay, 10-4 overall), while Burlingame (1-3, 6-10) got 14 points from Jean-Luc Uharriet.
Woodside 45, Hillsdale 36
Trailing 12-7 after the first quarter, the Wildcats outscored the Knights 27-17 in the second and third quarters to earn their first Bay Division win of the seaon.
Kevin Perez led the way for Woodside (1-2 PAL Bay, 7-5 overall), scoring 14 points.
Hillsdale (0-3, 5-10) was led by Freeman Lane, who scored 12 points.
Sequoia 62, Mills 51
The Vikings outscored the Ravens 21-16 in the fourth quarter, but the hole was too big as the Ravens held on for the win.
Sequoia (3-0 PAL Ocean, 6-5 overall) got 21 points each from Nick Henderson and Charlie Fulton.
Mills (1-2, 3-12) was led by Jefriel Bacorro, who scored a season-high 29 points, including three 3-pointers.
Terra Nova 68, Oceana 50
The Tigers led 30-22 at halftime and then pulled away in the second half for the win.
Terra Nova (3-0 PAL Ocean, 6-5 overall) had 14 players get in the scoring column, led by Cody Anderton’s 13 points. Jesse Martinez had 12 points and Jayden Harrington added 10 for the Tigers.
Oceana (0-3, 9-5) got 19 points from Luis Manuel and 18 from Alan Alcantara.
Aragon 53, Capuchino 31
The Dons led 19-4 after the first quarter and 31-13 at halftime as they cruised past the Mustangs.
Jasper Caffo led the way for Aragon (3-0 PAL Ocean, 8-5 overall), finishing with 15 points. Armando Cajbon added 12 points for the Dons.
Capuchino (0-2, 5-7) got six points from both Christian Dimaano and Dominic Vanden Berghe.
Boys’ soccer
Menlo-Atherton 2, Sequoia 0
The Bears opened PAL Bay Division play with a shutout win over the rival Ravens to stay unbeaten on the season.
M-A (1-0 PAL Bay, 8-0-2 overall) scored once in each half. Pablo Martinez gave the Bears a 1-0 lead at halftime off an assist from Lucas Selvik. Nathan Thurlow added the insurance goal in the second half, with Yandel Hernandez picking up the assist.
Carlmont 2, Burlingame 0
The Scots extended the Panthers’ losing streak to five in a row with the shutout in the Bay Division opener.
Carlmont (1-0 PAL Bay, 4-4-1 overall) scored both its goals in the first half, with Nico Golomb and Donny Dooley hooking up twice. Golomb opened the scoring on a Dooley assist, with the two exchanging roles for the second strike.

Aragon 4, South City 1
The Dons scored three times in the first half to open PAL Bay Division play with the win over the Warriors.
Andrew Alatta, Marvin Zheng, Marcus Finke and Brian Cervantes all scored goals for Aragon (1-0 PAL Bay, 6-1-2 overall), while Damian Samano had two assists.
South City falls to 0-1 in division play and 2-6-1 overall.
Half Moon Bay 3, Mills 3
The Vikings led 3-1 at halftime, but couldn’t hold off the Cougars in the second half as they scored twice to forge the draw in the PAL Ocean Division opener for both.
Erik Serrano scored twice for HMB (1-0 PAL Ocean, 4-6-1 overall), with Donovan Almendarez rounding out the scoring.
Mills (0-1, 0-5-1) got a pair of goals from Julian Mindell. Kory Wong opened the scoring for the Vikings.
Woodside 5, Jefferson 1
The Wildcats scored multiple in goals in each half to cruise to the win over the Grizzlies.
Matthew Lacasio potted a hat trick for Woodside (1-0 PAL Ocean, 5-7 overall) and added an assist. Daniel Artandi had a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, as well.
Fernando Rivas scored for Jefferson (0-1, 0-7).
El Camino 9, Oceana 0
The Colts put this game away early, scoring seven times in the first half of the PAL Lake Division opener.
Andrew Tafolla netted a hat trick for El Camino (1-0 PAL Lake, 9-2 overall) as six Colts scored. Steven Renz added two goals and an assist, while freshmen Daniel Figueroa Jr. and Emilio Jimenez both had a goal and an assist.
Terra Nova 3, Westmoor 2
Leading 3-1 at halftime, the Tigers held off the Rams in the second half.
Kainoa Stancil scored twice to lead Terra Nova (1-0 PAL Lake, 5-2 overall), while Nico Sardo had two assists. Fabrizio Mutti rounded out the scoring for the Tigers.
Girls’ basketball
El Camino 37, Capuchino 21
The Lady Colts (3-0 PAL Ocean, 8-6 overall) won their third straight to open PAL Ocean Division play, their best start in league in over 20 years, on their home court against Capuchino (0-3, 6-6). Trailing 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, El Camino used a 15-2 run in the second to take the game in hand. Freshman guard Isabelle Fernandez led the way with a team-high 10 points, while freshman Lhian Dela Cruz drilled three 3s to add nine points. Cap senior Sophia Caciante led all scorers with 14 points.
Burlingame 64, South City 52
The Panthers (3-0 PAL Ocean, 8-4 overall) won their fifth straight, rolling on the road at South City (0-3, 5-9). Burlingame senior Hailey Miller scored a game-high 19 points, while junior Haleh Ansari added 14 and junior Halle Newman sunk two 3-pointers to tally eight points. South City junior Liala Kinchen shared the game-high with 19 points. The Warriors have now dropped six straight.
Woodside 52, Sequoia 33
Freshman guard Lyla Rich knocked down six 3-pointers to net a game-high 18 points and get the Wildcats (2-1 PAL Ocean, 6-7 overall) back in the win column at home against Sequoia (1-2, 3-9). Senior forward Olivia Seto added 13 points for the Cats, who took a 32-12 lead into halftime. Freshman guard Olivia Macuga led the Ravens with 10 points. Woodside has now won three straight against its crosstown rival dating back to last season.
Mills 49, Hilldale 40
Sofia Kwan scored 19 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, to lead the Lady Vikings (2-1 PAL Bay, 8-6 overall) to the win at home against Hillsdale (2-1, 13-2). Trailing 21-15 at the half, the Lady Knights rallied back to tie it in the fourth quarter. But Kwan’s sharp shooting won the day. Senior Kalyssa Chu added eight points for Mills. Junior Daniella Sierra scored a team-high 13 points for Hillsdale, while junior Kiara Nitao hit three 3s to add 12 points.
Carlmont 56, Aragon 46
The Lady Scots (2-1 PAL Bay, 7-6 overall) earned a road win 56-46 at Aragon (1-3, 5-10). Senior point guard Willow Ishibashi-To led the way with a game-high 18 points — going over the 1,000-point mark for her Carlmont career. She has 1,008 and counting for the Scots.
Senior Cyan Lee added eight and sophomore Sky Yee had seven. The Lady Dons had two scores in double figures, as junior Jayda Parangan totaled 11 points and junior Daisy Pantoja Beltran added 10.
Terra Nova 47, Oceana 35
Senior guard Mariyah Mahasin scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Tigers (2-1 PAL Ocean 8-5 overall) in an all-Pacifica battle at home against Oceana (1-2, 2-9). Sophomore point guard Reese Kelley added 11 points for Terra Nova. Senior forward Alamea Lewis scored a team-high 16 points for the Sharks, while senior Kelani Cheng added 14. It is Terra Nova’s sixth straight win over Oceana dating back to 2020-21.
San Mateo 54, Jefferson 21
The Bearcats (3-0 PAL Ocean, 11-4 overall) used a 13-2 run in the second quarter to take control in head coach Paul Carion’s return to his previous school, Jefferson (0-3, 2-9). Sophomore Kaitlyn Schuh racked up a game-high 20 points, while adding 15 rebounds to record her third straight double-double. Sophomore Bella Fong added 14 and seven assists for San Mateo. Jefferson post Aailyah Hall scored a team-high eight points. The Bearcats have now won 10 of their last 11.
Menlo-Atherton 59, Westmoor 28
The Bears (2-1 PAL Bay, 8-5 overall) took a comfortable 26-18 lead into halftime, then went on a 20-6 run in the third quarter to hammer Westmoor (0-4, 7-6) in Daly City. Junior big Lita Fakapelea scored a game-high 15 points for M-A, while junior Luisa Tava added 12. The two combined for seven 3-pointers on the afternoon Junior guard Kiana Chavez stepped up to score a team-high 14 points for the Lady Rans.
