Woodside 6, San Mateo 5
The Bearcats’ stay atop the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division standings lasted as day, as the Wildcats walked them off, coupled with Hillsdale’s win over King’s Academy.
Woodside (5-7 PAL Bay, 14-8 overall) scored runs in the last four innings. Down 5-4 after five innings, the Wildcats scored once in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game then Vanessa Carlos homered in the bottom of the seventh to give the Wildcats’ the walk-off victory.
San Mateo (9-3, 15-5) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third, but Woodside tied it with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, but the Bearcats quickly grabbed back the momentum scored three times in the top of the fifth.
But San Mateo could not shut down the Wildcats.
Woodside used the long ball to overcome San Mateo as senior Mo Overbey and freshman Sela Penisini both homered, as well. Overbey and Penisini each drove in two runs. That made a winner of Wildcats’ reliever Marissa Calderon, who came on in relief of Hannah Walker, who worked the first four innings. Calderon finished the final three innings and the duo combined for nine strikeouts.
Jana Davies paced the offense for San Mateo, driving in three runs.
Hillsdale 10, King’s Academy 0
Hillsdale, which dropped an extra-inning decision to San Mateo Tuesday to fall into a first place tie, regained sole possession of the Bay Division lead following a mercy-rule win over King’s and San Mateo’s loss to Woodside.
Hillsdale (10-2 PAL Bay, 16-8 overall) took the lead for good with a four-run top of the second inning. It scored two more in the top of the fourth and got the 10-run lead with a four-run fifth.
That was more than enough offense for Hillsdale pitcher Sophia Lebron, who pitched all five innings, allowing just two hits. Lebron helped her own cause at the plate, driving in a pair of runs. Sophia Shelton and Kayla Nolan also had two RBIs apiece for Hillsdale.
King’s Academy falls to 4-7 in Bay play and 8-10 overall.
Mills 11, Carlmont 0
The Vikings scored eight runs in the first three innings on their way to the mercy-rule victory over the Scots.
Mills (5-7 PAL Bay, 13-9 overall) took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first innings and took complete control with a five-run second. A run in the third and two more in the bottom of the fifth ended the game.
A pair of freshman paced the offense for the Vikings. Isabel Chen drove in three runs while Neola Lo homered and drove in a pair. Alyssa Peñas collected two hits and had two RBIs, as well, for Mills.
That was more than enough offense for pitcher Gina Hillman, who won her first game in her third appearance. She scattered five hits while striking out five as she worked all five innings.
Genevieve Savage had two hits for Carlmont (0-10, 3-19-1).
Aragon 12, Capuchino 0
Dons’ pitcher Makayla Hafoka held the Mustangs to just two hits as the offense gave her a big led early.
Aragon (8-4 PAL Bay, 15-10 overall) scored three runs in the bottom of the first, five in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth. Natalie Jia hit a homer for the Dons, to go along with a double and three RBIs. Taylor Workman had three hits, including a double, and also drove in three runs for the Dons. Chloe Wan and Destiny Garcia each added a pair of RBIs.
Alana Koenig and Setaita Mau each had a single for Capuchino (5-6, 9-12).
Menlo-Atherton 8, Terra Nova 7
The Bears rebounded from their first Ocean Division loss of the season by walking off the Tigers.

Down 7-5 after five innings, M-A (6-1 PAL Ocean, 17-3 overall) closed to 7-6 with a run in the bottom of the sixth and then ended the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning before Terra Nova (2-6, 8-10 overall) added three more in the second for a 6-3 lead. The Tigers increased their lead to 7-3 with a run in the fourth, but the Bears scored two in the bottom of the inning.
Juliana Pandolfo doubled and drove in two runs for M-A, who had a double among her three hits. Elise Koo, Carey Maletis and Molly Rosen all added an RBI for the Bears.
Gracy Nava earned the win, pitching a complete game.

Terra Nova 3, Sacred Heart Prep 2
The Tigers snapped the Gators’ 10-game PAL Ocean Division winning streak, tightening up the Ocean Division race in the process.
SHP’s division lead is now just one game over second-place San Mateo, which hammered Mills.
Terra Nova (8-4 PAL Ocean, 15-10 overall) scored once in the bottom of the first, but SHP (10-2, 18-6) tied it with a run in the top of the second. The Gators took a 2-1 lead with another run in the top of the fourth, but the Tigers answered with two in the bottom of the inning as the game turned into a pitching duel the rest of the way.
Alden James earned the win for Terra Nova, working the first six inning, allowing two runs while scattering seven hits. Cooper Santamato then locked down the save in the seventh. James, Spencer Speidel and Dom Paulsen all drove in a run for the Tigers.
Blake Affrunti and Drew Parker accounted for the Gators’ RBIs, with Kyle Sweeney taking the hard-luck loss. He allowed two earned runs while working into the sixth inning.
San Mateo 13, Mills 1
The Bearcats pulled within a game of Ocean Division-leading Sacred Heart Prep after posting a mercy-rule win over the Vikings.
San Mateo (9-3 PAL Ocean, 18-7 overall) wasted little time in taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, took complete control with seven runs in the third and added three more in the top of the sixth. Tyce Copus went 3 for 5 for the Bearcats, including a double and driving in three runs. Julio Calderon, Christian Louie, Hudson Brandt and Michael Lackey all added two RBIs apiece.
That was more than enough offense for Louie, who earned the win on the mound. He worked five innings, giving up an earned run while allowing just one hit while striking out 12.
Mills (0-12, 4-17) finished the game with two hits — one each from Nick Lafon and Joshua Huei. Lafon scored the Vikings run.
In other action ...
Woodside (6-6 PAL Ocean, 12-10 overall) scored single runs in four innings to hold off South City (1-11, 8-17), 4-3.
Half Moon Bay (8-4 PAL Ocean, 14-9 overall) completed the two-game sweep of Aragon (6-6, 14-10), beating the Dons 6-0.
El Camino (13-0 PAL Lake, 18-5 overall) moved within a game an undefeated Lake Division season with a 16-0 mercy-rule win over Westmoor (5-8, 8-9).
Crystal (4-9 PAL Lake, 4-12-1 overall) beat Jefferson (0-13, 1-19), 13-3.
Harker (9-4 PAL Lake, 14-10 overall) hammered Priory (8-5, 14-5), 14-4.
