Daisy Pantoja Beltran, Aragon girls’ basketball. The senior shooting guard set a new career high as she helped the Dons to a pair of Bay Division wins. She went off in the Dons’ 65-63 win over Half Moon Bay, pouring in 38 points, which is most points scored in a PAL game this season. It eclipsed the 31 points she scored earlier this season. She came back with a 16-point effort in a 43-38 win over San Mateo Friday.
Jesse Chavez, Capuchino boys’ wrestling. With the Mustangs earning the PAL boys’ wrestling tournament championship, Chavez was one of two Cap wrestlers to win individual titles, the other was Daily Journal Athlete of the Week Billy Ferreira at 175s. Chavez recorded three wins, including a second-round pin in the finals, to earn the PAL crown at 126s, the first of the junior’s varsity career.
Kayla Lichaa, San Mateo girls’ soccer. The junior midfielder had a goal in a 2-2 draw with South City and followed it up with two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over El Camino.
Jordan Rice, Carlmont boys’ basketball. The junior wing helped run the Scots’ winning streak to three in a row. He helped eliminate Half Moon Bay from Bay Division title contention and gave the title to M-A with a 21-point performance in a dominating 57-32 victory. He opened the week with 17 points in a 68-42 win over Jefferson.
Daniella Sierra, Hillsdale girls’ basketball. The senior post player helped the Knights to a pair of wins last week, including scoring 14 points as they knocked M-A out of sole possession of first place with a 57-45 win. She opened the week with a 13-point effort in a 41-2v4 win over Mills.
Callum North, Hillsdale boys’ basketball. The senior center helped the Knights maintain a share of the Ocean Division lead. His 16 points helped Hillsdale hold off Capuchino Wednesday in a 52-48 win. North followed that with 12 points in a 43-32 win over South City Friday.

Tyler Hughes, Hillsdale boys’ soccer. The senior wing helped the Fighting Knights to a pair of big wins last week as they close in on the PAL Bay Division title. While he didn’t earn an assist, it was his free kick that ultimately resulted in Max Gallatin’s highlight-reel goal in a 2-0 win over Woodside. He then had a goal an an assist in a 2-1 win over Burlingame. He scored on a beautiful free kick in the first half and then assisted on Niko Nachbar’s goal in the second half.
Declan Sitter, Menlo School boys’ soccer. The senior helped the Knights to a pair of wins last week as they moved into a tie for second place in the WBAL standings, one point behind league-leading Sacred Heart Prep. Sitter scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-00 win over Priory. In Friday’s showdown with Crystal, Sitter added another goal and assist as the Knights handed the Gryphons their first loss of the season.
Ruby Peraza, San Mateo girls’ wrestling. While junior teammate Hannah Villareale earned Outstanding Wrestler in the girls’ lower weights in capturing the PAL individual championship in the 120-pound bracket, it was the freshman Peraza who proved a bolt from the blue in leading the Bearcats to the team championship in the PAL girls’ tournament. In her first year of wrestling, Peraza wrestled at the junior-varsity level for most of the regular season, but recorded back-to-back pins Saturday to top the podium for the first time in her wrestling career at any level to earn the individual PAL crown at 145s.
Nina Alexiev, Terra Nova girls’ soccer. The sophomore striker helped lead the Tigers to a pair of wins as they near the PAL Ocean Division championship. She had an assist in a 4-1 win over Mills and capped her week with a pair of goals in a 7-0 win over Westmoor.
Carlos Latu, Woodside boys’ wrestling. The Outstanding Wrestler of the boys’ upper weights Saturday at the PAL Wrestling Championship Tournament, Latu ruled the heavyweight division. The senior used back-to-back first-round pins through the quarterfinals and semifinals to earn a date with destiny against El Camino junior Davion Martinez. Latu rose to the moment, recording a 7-1 decision to repeat as PAL heavyweight champ.
Danny Figueroa Jr., El Camino boys’ soccer. The sophomore striker had a foot in a pair of lopsided wins as the Colts near the PAL Ocean Division crown. He had an assist in a 5-0 win over Terra Nova and then closed the week with two goals and an assist in a 6-1 win over San Mateo.
