Division III
Menlo-Atherton 21, Stevenson 17
In a game that saw four lead changes, No. 3-seed Menlo-Atherton (5-6) struck last with a touchdown pass from senior quarterback Teddy Dacey to senior Matthew Kwon midway through the fourth quarter to win over No. 6 Stevenson-Pebble Beach (9-2) at Coach Parks Field.
Stevenson took a 10-7 lead into halftime, then overcame a 14-10 deficit early in the fourth quarter.
Dacey was 11-of-15 passing for 168 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Senior running back Evaimalo Ama rushed 10 times for 41 yards and two touchdowns. Stevenson quarterback Fin Mink was 15-of-29 passing for 122 yards, and had a touchdown reception on a 5-yard option pass from senior receiver Derek Diniz.
With the win, the Bears advance to an all-Atherton Division III semifinals, hosting No. 7 Sacred Heart Prep Friday at 7 p.m.
Sacred Heart Prep 49, Carmel 48
Senior quarterback Nico Pollioni ran the two-minute drill to perfection to lead No. 7 Sacred Heart Prep (6-5) to a comeback win at No. 2 Carmel (7-4).
With Carmel breaking a 41-all tie with two minutes to play on a 5-yard scoring run by #3, the Gators took over at their own 35, with Pollioni marching the team downfield with passes of 14 yards to Charlie Ford and 20 yards to Nathan Fox into Carmel territory. Then, facing third-and-10 from the 36, Pollioni hit pay dirt with a touchdown pass to Ford to cut the deficit to 48-47.
The work wasn’t done, though, as SHP lined up for the two-point conversion. Pollioni delivered again, completing a conversion score to Alex Ford for the game-winner.
Pollioni had tied the game earlier in the quarter. With the game tied 34-all after three quarters of play, Carmel ran it in to open the fourth. But Pollioni fired back with pass completions of 6, 14 and 8 yards before tying the game on a QB sneak.
