Just one hit on the day was enough for the Burlingame Panthers to walk it off.
Nash Trautwein
Burlingame junior starter Nash Trautwein and Sacred Heart Cathedral senior Cooper Rogers Lewis battled for five scoreless frames Saturday, but the Panthers (7-4) finally got to Rogers Lewis for an unearned run in the seventh to walk off with the non-league win at Washington Park.
Senior Slade Flores set the table for Burlingame, taking a 3-2 pitch for a one-out walk. Flores stole second with two outs, then pinch-runner Max Robenalt crossed the plate with the game-winning run when junior Aaron Lau reached on an infield error.
SHC (4-7) outhit Burlingame 4-1. Trautwein allowed two hits, a walk and two hit batsmen while striking out four to take a no-decision. Junior reliever Dan Sheehan fired two scoreless frames to earn the win, allowing two hits and striking out one. Rogers Lewis took the hard-luck complete-game loss, allowing one unearned run on one hit, one walk and one hit batsman, while striking out 10 through 6 2/3 innings.
Senior Kai Watababe recorded the Panthers’ only hit with an infield single in the second.
