Member of the popular rock group Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong, 30, also an Oakland resident, was arrested Sunday on DUI charges, according to Berkeley police.
Police say Armstrong's new, black BMW appeared to be driving above the speed limit at 12:50 a.m. as it headed southbound on Telegraph Avenue, just north of Ashby Avenue. When police observed Armstrong stop in the middle of an intersection and then reverse to correct the mistake, he was pulled over, police said.<
