I would like to comment on Mr. Mark Church’s letter to the editor, “Political rhetoric undermines the integrity of elections” in the Monday, Nov. 19, edition of the San Mateo Daily Journal.

Mr Church actually does not control the voter ID issue. It is State law. What still blows me away is that in the front page article it states that for becoming a naturalized citizen, one must be able to speak, read and write English. As a naturalized citizen myself, I am floored that our ballots are still made available in languages other than English. If these voters do not comprehend English or bothered to become proficient, how in the world did they pass the citizen test?
