Proposition 50 will not make a difference, only provide retribution against Texas and take away our better independent solution. Proposition 50 may open five Democrat-leaning seats but given 40% of Californians voted Republican in the last national election, winning is not assured. Furthermore, other Republican states will move to gerrymander and increase their representatives. Democrat states are already gerrymandered so this move may in fact reduce Democrat power.
Ballot cost is estimated at $282 million while another ballot measure asks for 1/2 cent sales tax increase for transportation increasing the rate to over 10%. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
