Regarding Auros Harman’s excellent letter (June 17) regarding the Republican nonstop obstruction to Democratic immigration reform bills for political gain, I would offer a slightly different interpretation of his statement “Trump has suddenly started to sound like John McCain, suggesting that ICE shouldn’t raid farms and restaurants, they should instead prioritize going after actual criminals.”
First, having called John McCain “a loser,” I don’t think Trump will ever rise to McCain’s level of decency. Moreover, Trump has never taken any action that even remotely resembles common sense or serves the public good unless it benefits him. His obvious motivation for sparing farmworkers is his realization that a large segment of his voting base uses immigrant workers, including rural farmers and large corporate agriculture. To reach his aggressive deportation quota and punish the hated Libs at the same time, he can kill two birds with one stone by deporting immigrants from only blue cities and states. It’s exactly what you’d expect from this pathetic, insecure little man.
Thanks for excellent points, Mr. Brenner! What Trump doesn’t understand, though, is that he will go with it, if he sends the country off the proverbial cliff. But, then again, - what does he understand, - if anything?
Yawn, snore… Here we go again with Mr. Brenner going back to the well with debunked Democrat playbook talking points. Hey Mr. Brenner, it’s time to wake up. Our (yes, our) great President Trump has already Made America Great Again and is already doing it again. And if Trump is a “pathetic, insecure little man” and is also POTUS, twice, and a multi-billionaire, what’s that say about you and other folks afflicted with TDS?
Hey Irv - "this pathetic, insecure little man" has been nominated for the defiled Nobel Peace Prize by Pakistan. If I were Trump, I would refuse based on the marginalized value of that Prize given to Obama for doing exactly nothing to deserve it. Coming to think of it, even you would now qualify.
The Nobel committee is too well informed about what Trump has done, to award him the Peace Prize! They DO have some standards, although they did make a huge mistake with Mother Terrica!
