Editor,
As I am watching with disgust the murder of a highly respectable and admired American patriot, I can’t feel enough for his wife and children who are now left without a father and a husband.
Surely, most of our alphabet and cable channels are paying tribute to his remarkable career and mentioned that is he leaving a young family wondering about what is next. As a person of age, I have witnessed the sudden, and even expected, departure of a husband. It is devastating in all of the cases that I have unfortunately been involved with. I believe that FOX News broadcasted his passing to obscene levels for ratings. I have to give credit to Abby Philips at CNN for delivering a compassionate and informative postscript for delivering an unbiased picture of what has just happened and what we may need to do about it.
Besides our prayers and thoughts to Charlie’s wife Erika, we need to appreciate what it is like for her to come home to an empty home, an empty bed and the lack of giggling with his little kids. Only a widow can appreciate this tragedy and be forced with this horrible travesty and deal with this regardless of presidential and congressional leader sympathies. Erika is the person and her children we need to support. That would be the true legacy of Charlie Kirk.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. van Ulden. You say you believe FOX News broadcast Charlie Kirk's passing to obscene levels for ratings. That’s interesting since FOX News already has high ratings and has had them for a while. Perhaps there’s more coverage on FOX News because many of the folks at FOX News personally knew and interacted with Charlie Kirk throughout the last decade or more of his now cut-short life.
What is more concerning is that we not only have rabid-left Democrats supporting criminals and terrorists but they are also celebrating political assassinations. I hope employers, especially those at all levels of government, check social media accounts to see where the moral compasses of potential candidates lie. Wait, I hear there is a website exposing those celebrating Mr. Kirk’s political assassination. Maybe that should be the first stop for background investigators. Perhaps we should also check social media accounts of foreigners wanting to visit or attend our universities or work before letting them into the US. Wait, I hear Marco Rubio is now doing that. Maybe we can now cancel the ones who are here. We have a deportation network in place.
