Editor,

There seems to be a rise in teacher strikes, and always to the detriment of the students and their parents. Working parents cannot always stay home to look after their children and the students will inevitably fall behind in their studies. A simply way to avoid these strikes is to have “binding arbitration,” whereby an independent person or panel decides what wages and working conditions are equitable.

Break up the monopoly that is our public school system and go to vouchers where the money follows the student and their parents.

According to at least one Sacramento pundit these visible strikes are a prelude to 2020 ballot measure that will significantly amend Prop 13. Something worth paying attention to.
