The opponents of Measure Q have always prided themselves as being "People for Housing, Not Highrises." So I was quite shocked to read that Ralph Nobles, leading the opposition against Measure Q, now supports big box retail at the Marina Shores Village site.
When did the opponents of Measure Q switch gears? In an article dated Oct. 20, Ralph Nobles said "some Measure Q opponents would prefer a retail center to a high-rise development." "It wouldn't be such an eyesore."
Have the Measure Q opponents abandoned their cause for housing in Redwood City? Or are they just against Marina Shores Village and don't care what is built on the 46 acres? I think they don't have the community's best interest at heart and are willing to deceive the voters with mistruths and misinformation to confuse the voters.
The supporters of People for Housing, Not Highrises don't really have a vested interest in bringing new housing to our community. They have presented no plans for housing. They oppose the one significant housing proposal that a builder has brought to our city.
Something will be built at the Marina Shores Village site. The property at Peninsula Marina is zoned for commercial space and permits 1.25 million square feet of office development or big box retail. Redwood City will get one of these developments.

You decide. Housing or big box retail.
I've made my decision. I want housing for my community.
