In an Aug. 28 LTE, Nancy Mangini writes that pro-Palestine protestors who disrupted a speech by U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi “sent the wrong message” and hurt their cause. She called them “people with absolutely no regard for the rights of others, like those of us who had come long distances to hear the speaker.”
As an active member of Jewish Voice for Peace, I’m sorry Mangini was discomforted, but disrupting business as usual is what protesting is all about. While Pelosi’s speech was interrupted, her government was sending billions of dollars worth of bombs and guns to kill people in Palestine. Some of the victims may have been relatives of the protestors. Don’t expect us to shut up about the ongoing mass murder of innocents, join us.
