In the 1980s, as I was escorting a group of brand-new members of our unit toward the main ops area of our building for a shift of on the job training (OJT), I was stopped and told that we would be on “paint duty” that day instead.

A general would be visiting in a few days and our commander wanted the place spiffed up. Just a short distance from the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), between North and South Korea, still technically at war, there was always a sense of urgency to our work as part of the Electronic Security Command, and rarely was there a spare minute for anything other than mission critical work.

Craig: I had a paint job one summer in my teens, - in the basement of a hospital "over there". Some painters' Union members must have smelled my sweat, because they showed up with a warning: "Slow down, or else!" I was apparently busting all their rates and quotas!

Yes, Craig, the smell test comes in handy at times, and I know that you know what I mean, - but I don’t think your previous commentators understood your point!

The smell is so strong at times, like right now, that I must hold my nose!

Not So Common

Jorg, unfortunately the "Americana PEOPLE" can smell you and your smamp, you and your ideologically way of thinking, your lies, your shadows, your blindness, your lies, your inability to smell, (you probably lost a nostril as a child along with your one eye) your lies, your Craig's list of immaturity and inability to get out of your own way of thinking and lies.

Like I have said before, Craig and his side cocked head is a guise for kindness, but we all see through Craig's hate.

I am truly sorry that the USA now wants to defund mutilating children, I'm surprised you and Craig don't want to sic catholic priests on boys again.

The difference between the general and Trump is that your commanding officer had no clue. Trump, bless his soul, has been preparing for this overhaul since 2017. Yes, there will be hardships but most of the programs and projects that you cite have nothing to do with or help the average American taxpayer. Trump was elected because this plethora of "nice things to do" has been going out of bounds for some time. Contrary to your opinion, the vast majority of Americans are supporting his efforts. If other countries wish to support DEI or publish movies and pamphlets about LGQ-etc. let them finance it themselves. Instead of foreign leaders taking care of their own populations, they are laughing all the way to their banks and pocket USAID money. And in a country in which we spend more per student than anywhere else in the First World, yet we rank 40th in even basic skills, we should all agree that the DOE should either be dumped or overhauled. And many more to follow. The general smelled paint but most of us smell rot, waste and fraud. Uncle Sam is done with it. America First!

Thanks for your column today, Mr. Wiesner. Although you smell paint, I can safely say the majority of Americans smell winning. Not only smelling winning, but seeing it, hearing it, tasting it, and touching it. It’s amusing that you’re now worried about money and time wasted to getting ride of wokeness and DEI and everything else you’re offended about but you conveniently forget the massive money and time wasted to implement these divisive philosophies in the first place. But don’t worry, the wheels of government and American will run more smoothly than ever thanks to the efforts of our (yes, our) great President Trump with the help of Elon Musk and American patriots.

America's Golden Age would arrive much quicker if we didn’t have the constant hysterical screeching and obstruction of rabid Dems who are more worried about losing their slush funds than for the good of the American people. Perhaps you can do your part in encouraging obstructionist Dems to cooperate with Trump. According to your logic, wouldn’t that help Dems in midterm elections? Or will folks learn to love the smell of paint and allow Dems to fade into further obscurity?
