Sharon Torrano, born July 29, 1952, died Jan. 7, 2018, peacefully after a long battle with cancer in San Mateo, California. Wife of the late Anthony Torrano and mother of Jennifer and Joseph as well as grandmother to Abigail and Tyler.
Sharon was a dedicated lifelong Girl Scout. For her efforts, she received local, regional and national awards leading multiple troops and as the director of the Peninsula Day Camp. She was also a devoted supporter of the dance arts on the Peninsula. After serving on the board of the Peninsula Ballet Theater for several years, she co-founded a new school and professional company, Bay Pointe Ballet. Sharon was an active member in her church community throughout her life. We will remember her as passionate, strong and loving.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. vigil Monday, Jan. 15, at Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s Funeral Home, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 300 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo. Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma. Reception to follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bartholomew.
