Michael “Mike” Francis Sheehan, age 82, of San Mateo, California, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025. Mike was born November 12, 1942 to Joseph and May Sheehan. A native San Franciscan, Mike attended St. John’s Catholic Grammar School (class of 1956), Riordan High School (class of 1960), and the University of San Francisco where he earned a BS in Marketing.
He served in the Army Reserves for six years, and then went on to work 23 years for Del Monte corporate, where he met the love of his life, Elaine Caballero Sheehan. Mike and Elaine were married in 1995, celebrating 30 years together.
Mike is survived by his wife Elaine, his brother Joe (Elizabeth), sisters-in-law Diane Ross and Phyllis Enea, beloved niece and nephews Maureen, Tom (Pauleen) and Dan, grand nieces and nephews Ian, Kristina, Gena and Julie as well as special grandniece and nephew Danielle and Dominic Barsi, long time childhood friend Marge Silva and special niece Anne Barsi (Dan). Mike was predeceased by his parents May and Joseph, and older brother Richard.
Mike was beloved and admired by all who knew him for his kindness, sage advice, generous nature and willingness to always be of service to others. He will always be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s honor may be made to St. Anthony’s Foundation. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church in San Mateo with a funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following Mass.
