A one-alarm fire at a Redwood City apartment complex Monday morning caused more than $100,000 in damage, but did not result in any injuries, according to fire officials.
The fire was reported at 1:39 a.m. at an apartment building at 24 Willow St. Arriving firefighters spotted flames in multiple windows on the second floor of the two-story building, according to a fire report.
Firefighters attacked the blaze and rescued a handful of residents who had climbed onto the roof of an adjoining building. The fire was under control shortly after 2 a.m., and no injuries were reported.
One second-floor apartment was destroyed, and firefighters estimate the damage to the structure at about $80,000 and damage to the building's contents at $40,000.
Residents reported hearing a popping sound around the time the fire started, but its exact cause remains under investigation.
