A 17-year-old girl found strangled and wrapped in a blanket near Visitacion Avenue and Mansell Street in San Francisco on Monday night might have left her home more than 24 hours earlier, a family friend said yesterday.
Maxina Danner, a Lincoln High School senior, was discovered around 11:20 p.m. Monday by a curb on the street, according to the Police Department. Investigators found no evidence of sexual assault.
Mike Banducci, a family friend, said he had spoken with Danner's relatives and the girl apparently had left the house on Sunday. The exact time she left her 15th Street home near Buena Vista Park remains unknown.
She took her wallet and a cell phone, he said.
Banducci described Danner as a straight-A student, good-natured and an avid softball player.

He said she planned to enter college and was considering studying to become an attorney.
Police identified the girl after her grandfather, who was her legal guardian, reported her missing on Tuesday.
Danner was 5 feet 4 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.
