PALO ALTO -- Hewlett-Packard Co. launched a computer recycling incentive program Thursday that gives consumers coupons for new products if they dispose of old hardware through the company.
Customers must fill out an online form and pay the Palo Alto-based computer manufacturer to pick up, transport and recycle computers or related products, including printers, servers and scanners from any manufacturer.
The cost of the 2-year-old service ranges from $17 to $30, depending on the size of the equipment to be recycled in HP's facilities near Roseville, Calif., and Nashville, Tenn.
Customers will receive e-coupons ranging from $20 to $50, depending on the amount that they spent on recycling, and the coupons will be valid on new products purchased through HP's online store.<
