A traffic relief pilot program to address cut-through traffic in Foster City will begin Feb. 11 and will restrict left-turn and U-turn movements from East Hillsdale Boulevard at Edgewater and Shell boulevards, according to the city.
The pilot begins following a year of discussion with the community and City Council.
Restrictions will be in effect during the peak evening commute hours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, except for major holidays. The program trial will be three months. The left turn traffic light arrows at these specific intersections will remain red during the restricted time period, according to the city.
The pilot program seeks to address an influx of regional cut-through traffic as motorists seek an alternative to gridlock at Highway 101 and State Route 92. Go to fostercity.org/trafficreliefpilotprogram for more information. Questions or concerns about the Traffic Relief Pilot Program should be directed to Public Works Director Norm Dorais at (650) 286-3270 or trafficrelief@fostercity.org.

How about light rail from Foster City to Caltrain? Or a ferry to Hayward. I think all this does is dump more traffic on the 92/101 interchange. Hardly traffic relief.
This will mean left turns on Norfolk. And right turns on all the said streets. There are also San Fransisco left turns where right turns are made which will mean more cars in neighborhoods.
