The Burlingame Elementary School District is seeking nominations for the H. Jay Burns award, which recognizes those who have served the district in an exemplary fashion, made a positive impact on the school community and demonstrated leadership skills for students. The deadline for nominations is Monday, May 7. Submissions can be emailed to mmacisaac@burlingameschools.org or sent to the district office at 1825 Trousdale Drive, Burlingame, 94010.
Cipriani and Sandpiper elementary schools in the Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary School District, Lincoln Elementary School in Burlingame, North Hillsborough School, Encinal Elementary School in Menlo Park and College Park Elementary School in the San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District received recognition as California Distinguished Schools from the state Department of Education.

Menlo School will host Saturday, April 14, the Junior Classical League State Convention, featuring 1,154 Latin and Greek students from 43 schools across California and Nevada. Participants will be competing in Roman Jeopardy! quiz challenges, giving dramatic presentation in Latin and English, taking academic tests, writing essays and a variety of other events.
