Parents or community members in the Burlingame Elementary School District are invited to join a discussion examining modern learning techniques and the future of local education.
Bruce Duncan, the district’s new innovation director, is hosting Thursday, March 29, a community discussion called “Innovating for Impact Initiative,” at Burlingame Intermediate School.
The 7 p.m. event is designed to introduce Duncan, who was recently hired, and allow him to illustrate his vision for the district’s future curriculum changes.
“I think they’ll be excited to see how Burlingame Elementary School District is investing in, and improving, the quality of the learning and the depth of results for success in life,” said Duncan, regarding the discussion at the upcoming meeting.
He said discussion will address shifts in the modern learning environment, designed to build student’s skills in traditional curriculum while also offering them opportunities to build talents useful beyond the classroom.
Duncan said he will also talk about the evolution of education, and project methods useful in improving local instruction while seeking to recruit interested community members wishing to contribute to the local school system.
The event will take place 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Burlingame Intermediate School in the auditorium, 1715 Quesada Way.
