Police in Belmont are investigating whether a 58-year-old man suspected of arson is responsible for other recent intentional fires in the city.
The unnamed man was arrested by police Saturday after he set a “small fire” in a building in the 1000 block of Sixth Avenue, according to a statement from the Belmont Police Department.
The fire was discovered within minutes and extinguished.
The police department is working with the San Mateo County Fire Department to determine if the man is tied to any other recent arson incidents.
