SAMCAR supports the troops
Christmas was a bit more festive for our troops both in Iraq and at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Palo Alto because of the efforts of the San Mateo County Association of REALTORS. SAMCAR affiliate members began a "Support the Troops” fundraising drive last summer and raised almost $4,000 by October. $3,000 was spent on care packages that were shipped directly to military service people in Iraq. The remaining money was donated to the VA Hospital to help returning injured service members and their families.
SAMCAR Affiliate members Corrin Trowbridge of Farmers Insurance and Ed Bright of State Farm Insurance presented a donation check to William Ball, chief of voluntary service at the VA Hospital. Ball said the donation would be used for the VA’s Operation Enduring Freedom fund to make sure out-of-area family members had financial assistance with their transportation and lodging costs to make it easier for them to visit their injured sons and daughters.

"We go beyond what we can do to support our service members while they are here. This donation will help us do this. Thank you to the members of SAMCAR,” Ball said.
"Support the Troops” co-orga nizer Bright said, "It was such a joy to be involved and see the end result.”
The San Mateo County Association of REALTORS is a professional trade organization representing over 3,100 REALTORS and affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula. For more information about SAMCAR activities call 696-8200.
