Jamie Sammut, a senior at Fordham University, was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for the last week of March. Sammut, a San Bruno native who attended St. Ignatius High, picked up two wins and a save in a three-game sweep of University of Massachusetts.

The Burlingame High track team had a strong showing at the Stanford Invitational over the weekend. The Panthers' 4x800 girls' team -- comprised of seniors Katie Voigtlander and Katie Wolfe, along with sophomore Danielle Bahktiari and freshman Jennifer Carey -- took third place with a time of 9:44, shattering the school record by 20 seconds in the process. Voigtlander finished fifth in the 3,000, which was the best time among Central Coast Section runners. Monte Kelleher finished fifth in the mile with a time of 4:20.
Former Burlingame runner Ashley Benson, now a freshman at Wisconsin, ran a personal best in the 5K race, finishing with a time of 17:10.

The San Mateo Gymnastics girls' level 7 team dominated the Northern California State Championships, beating 60 other clubs for the title. San Mateo had nine gymnasts finish in the top-10 all-around, with no one finishing below seventh place.
Amanda Wallbridge had a tremendous outing. Her score of 38.35 (out of a total of 40) was the best score among all gymnasts at any level. She took first in the vault, bars and floor exercise, and second in the balance beam to win the all-around title.
Cassidy Palmer took second place in the all-around competition with a first-place finish on the balance beam, second in the bars and floor exercise and third in the vault. Kimberly Palmer and Michelle Fong tied for third place in the all around, Monica Furuta and Hannah Webb tied for fourth, Erin Brown and Julia Foust tied for sixth and Caitlin Fovenyessy was seventh in the all-around competition.<
